Jillian's Big Birthday Celebration Blog Hop June 10, 2011 ~ Day 1

Hi and Welcome to Jillian's Big Birthday Celebration Blog Hop.  This is to celebrate my baby's birthday!  She will be 12!!!  Hard to believe!  she is almost taller than I and started her own Greeting Card business at 10 then her own stamp line at 11 ~ what will 12 bring ? ? ?
For my first project, I did a tag.  Her birthday and dance recital normally fall on the same weekend!  So here is a tag I will give to her tomorrow, June 11th after the dance recital ~ yes then we go shopping and she picks out something for doing such a great job and looking so beautiful on stage!  I am not a proud momma am I!
First I took an Inkssentials #8 Tag Distressed it with Victorian Velvet and Dusty Concord then used our Tiny Dots background stamp (by A Jillian Vance Design) inked with Dusty Concord.

The Flower is from the Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge and I had an old Hymnal that I glued a page to Clearly for Art Modeling Film by Studio 490, Wendy Veechi.  This stuff is so cool and the Cricut cut it just fine ~ I did a multi cut on a #5 setting on the blade)!  When you heat it up you can shape and form it after it cools, then if you don't like it heat it again and it can be reshaped.  It is distressed with Victorian Velvet.

I used Olive Archival Ink by Ranger for the stem of the flower (a fun, cheap stamp from Pat Catan's).
The center of the flower is a button punched from Kraft paper and distressed with Dusty Concord.

Hand dyed seam binding with both Dusty Concord and Victoian Velvet with a little Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl ~ tied in a knot and added one of our new "Pear Pins" is pinned thru the center, which adds a perfect touch!.
(Pear Pins are coming to www.ajillianvancedesign.com soon ~ we can't wait!!!)
I stamped In the Spotlight  and Dance Recital from On Broadway by A Jillian Vance Design and Birthday Blessings from Birthday Blessings by A Jillian Vance Design all in Deep Purple Archival Ink by Ranger.  Added the film strip from the Tim Holtz die to give it some stage appeal!

You have every right to be proud! Your daughter is awesome. I was an entrepreneur at the age of 5 so I totally respect a girl doin what she loves! I lived too far away from town to take dance lessons so I never got too. :( I always wanted to do Girl Scouts really, but lived too far for that too. Ah well, I shall live vicariously through my children if/when I have them. :0) Thanks for the chance to win! I'm heading to her store right now! P.S. Check out my blog for a special little tribute to a particular b-day girl 2moro. ;)

I hope you post a picture of her in her costume. I am following you and already liked Jillian on FB.
I did take both tap and ballet as a child for several years. I loved dancing and was really quite good at it. I even went to toe in ballet....only one in my class that did. I loved the quickness and of course the noise (what kid didn't like making noise...LOL) of tap but ballet I loved the gracefulness and the costumes were much "girly" with the tutus and all. To me tap was fun and ballet was pretty. Since I have to pick one....I'd say ballet.

Gorgeous tag, Bunny! I don't blame you a bit for being proud of that girl... she is awesome! I can't imagine having that much ambition and drive at her age. The only things I cared about (aside from art, of course) was riding my bike, roller skating and playing football with the boys! LOL I didn't take dance when I was a kid because I was the oldest of 5 and my parents couldn't afford it. I made art instead and I'm still at it!

Thanks for sharing your project and your stories. I'm a follower and FB fan and I think your daughter is something special.

I didn't take dance of any kind. I wish I had. I struggle coordinate my body enough to do aerobics. LOL Jillian looks so beautiful in her costumes. My favorite is the black and pink one. Those gloves are awesome!

This is a precious tag!! Love the distressing you used. I didn't take dance when I was a little girl but always wanted to. I did however dance around the house pretending I was a dancer and of course I was a part of the ensemble when any commercial came on with dancers in it. Does that count for dancing? LOL. If I did take a class I would have loved to have taken Ballet; it is just so beautiful to me.

Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you're using? I'm looking to
start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique.
P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
